Song with significance

Singer/songwriter Tryston Obevoen, who goes by the artist name Sinoda, grew up in El Paso. He was 16 on Aug. 3, 2019, when he planned to stop at Walmart with his mom to shop for back-to-school supplies. They ended up heading home first, passing a number of emergency vehicles on the way. They quickly received notifications that an active shooter was at the very same Walmart they had planned to shop at just a few moments before. Now a senior at Memorial High School, he recently released a song called 8/3/2019 in honor of the 23 victims of the shooting as well as all victims of hate. The song was released a year after the date of the shooting. It is on YouTube and Soundcloud, and proceeds will be donated to victims of hate crimes and their families. Sinoda plays guitar, bass, ukulele, drums and piano. He has recorded and released multiple songs, including the viral hit “Kujo Freestyle,” with over 3 million streams.
